How to Add New Relationship Roles

Relationship roles allow banks to define standard types of financial relationships between contacts and users. The feature allows for the following:


  • Admins can create specific financial relationship roles
  • Users with permissions can create and maintain relationships in TE
  • Organizations can maintain relationships in the API


  1. On the left navigation, click Organization Admin > Configuration Settings
  2. Under Relationship Role Settings, click the  Update button.
  3. On the right side of the page, click the Add new role button.
    • A pop-up box appears. 
  4. Enter a name for the new role, then click the Addbutton.
    • The name you type cannot exceed 50 characters. You can only use:
      • uppercase letters (A-Z)
      • lowercase letters (a-z)
      • numbers (0-9)
      • spaces
      • underscores
    • If you enter any other characters, an error message appears, and you cannot add the role.
    • The system automatically generates a system name as you type.
      • The system name can be used with the data importer, the API, and variable names in content placeholders.
      • The system name is the same as the name you enter, except:
        • Any uppercase letters in the name you enter are converted to lowercase.
        • Any spaces are converted to underscores.
      • If you edit the name you entered later, the system name does not change.
